Its been just 6 weeks here and I am getting to get used to the pulse of the city. I commute to the office using the subway (which is jammed at least from 8 am to 10 am). I am beginning to get used to the behavior of the Japanese in at lease subways and walking. I queue up boarding the train after waiting for people to exit and queue up going to the escallator (both things that New Yorkers never seem to do.
Walking proocols are. Mostly the same as cars except you have to be careful of bikes that ride on the sidewalks (but are fine if you donât suddenly shift ). I am also a frequent (very frequent) user of the Convientence Stores (like Larsons, 7 11 etc). I pay my health insurance there, reload of the my Suica card â at least in Tokyo a cask card that I put on my IPhone wallet that allows me to pay JR and the subways and many many stores). I can reload it at the stores or from my debit cards on the phone and at JR stations. It is VERY Very convient.
I am getting braver in stopping at small eating places. The combination of pictures, pointing and often English clues (sometimes menus) make it easy. Prices are roughly NYC or less and NO tipping!! That makes it 15 to 20 % cheaper).
I am at home today since Tokyo is being hit by a Typhoon (so far very mild Maybe Hurricane 1 at best).
We had our official Center kick-off last week with good attendance. Here are some pictures https://share.icloud.com/photos/0Lv50Rx1hqraPhW9YYbroM9NQ#Minato_-_Mita <https://share.icloud.com/photos/0Lv50Rx1hqraPhW9YYbroM9NQ#Minato_-_Mita> . We expect to put up a streaming of the day soon.
More soon.
